The 3rd European Rural Geographies Conference will be held in Groningen, The Netherlands, between the 22nd and the 24th of June 2020. The IMAJINE researchers are members of the local organising committee of this conference.
Rural areas in Europe are under increasing and intersecting pressures, but many of these areas seem to be resilient. The landscapes, the actors, the uses, the challenges, and the way in which the rural is produced and reproduced, they are all changing rapidly. This brings forward new research questions and new answers. The focus of the Groningen conference is “Rural Geographies in Transition”. Within this focus the following guiding themes are identified:
- Population Developments
- Socio-spatial Inequalities
- Governance and Policies
- Economic Challenges
- Quality of Life
- Smart Villages
- Landscape Transitions
- Rural Entrepreneurship
- Agricultural Transformations
- Rural Housing
Abstracts of max. 250 words should be uploaded through the website here by December 20, 2019 at the latest, and will be reviewed and assigned to working groups by the organisation. The date of acceptance will be in February 2020.
