IMAJINE at the 57th ERSA Conference on “Social Progress for Resilient Regions” in Groningen

The ERSA (The European Regional Science Association) congress “Social Progress for Resilient Regions” hosted a large variety of themes in spatial, regional and urban economics, economic geography and regional policy topics like local governance and institutions between 29th of August and 1st of September 2017 in Groningen, The Netherlands.

IMAJINE Spanish partners from University of Oviedo (UNIOVI) Esteban Fernández Vázquez, Ana Viñuela, Fernando Rubiera Morollón and Alberto Díaz Dapena presented to the academic community the main ideas behind the IMAJINE project, specifically regarding WP2 and the study of income inequalities beyond regional level. The presentation given was titled “Local estimation of the economic indicators to analyze territorial inequalities”, and it was presented at the conference by Ana Viñuela.

Apart from explaining the novelties of the econometric methodology used to des-aggregated regional data into local units, the aim of the presentation was informing the regional scientists attending the Conference about the future availability of estimations of income at local level as part of to the IMAJINE project. The availability of local income data will allow to study intra-regional disparities and economic dynamics within the regions in Europe.
