Measuring socio-economic disparities at a local level: a composite indicator for Italy

During the conference “XXXX Conferenza Scientifica Annuale dell’Associazione Italiana di Scienze Regionali”, held at Gran Sasso Science Institute (GSSI) in L’Aquila, Italy between 16th and 18th of September 2018, The presentation related to the IMAJINE project took part in the Session “Inequalities and regional disparities after the crises”.

The Ud’A member participated in the session with a presentation on “Measuring socio-economic disparities at a local level: a composite indicator for Italy” (Alfredo Cartone, Domenica Panzera, Paolo Postiglione). The paper concerns the definition of a composite indicator encompassing both economic and social dimensions of the standard of living. This indicator is applied to explore socio-economic deprivation at local level, with an empirical application focused on Italian municipalities.

The audience appreciated the nature of the application and the methodological contribution to the aims of the project. The conference provided feedbacks to the works of WP3. Additionally, during other sessions of the Conference, many contributed in the field of territorial inequalities were presented and they were strongly linked to WP3.
